Overview
The DX200 is the latest DNA 200 Box Mod from Hotcig, a Chinese company. The compact device is made of durable materials and is powered by an Evolv DNA 200 chip which is known for its simple, yet accurate technology.
The mod’s dimensions come in at 9.0cm x 5.2cm x 2.8cm to make it compact and more portable. Due to its smaller battery pack, it is very light for a 200W device and feels comfortable in the hand. The unit is constructed from aluminum and has a very high quality rubberized finish that is fingerprint resistant. On the side of the device, you will find the Hotcig Logo which makes it look sleek and unique. At the top, there’s a standard 510 connection which is springloaded and protrudes high enough for larger atomizers. The OLED is the same bright screen as all DNA 200 box mods and the high quality buttons are clicky and don’t rattle. The device is available in black, red or white.
As is the case with most DNA 200 box mods, the DX200 has a maximum power output of 200 watts and features accurate temperature control. TC is available from 200 to 600 degrees Fahrenheit. The device is able to power atomizers that have a resistance of just 0.08Ω, ensuring that it can easily work with most attys. The mod also utilizes a patented preheat function which allows for the coils to instantaneously hit the temperature you’ve selected. From a technology standpoint, you really can’t go wrong with any DNA 200 box mod as they always perform accurately, especially in variable temperature modes. And, you can customize the mod by plugging it into your desktop computer and installing eScribe software. Evolv currenly has patents on many aspects of its chip including preheat, wattage control, the OLED & temperature protection technology and also the waterproof buttons.
The battery capacity on this mod seems rather low for a high powered box mod such as the DX200. The unit uses a 3-Lipo Pack Battery that has a 900mAh capacity. This will allow for extended vaping under 100W, but with higher wattage vaping, the battery may drain rather quickly. To recharge the battery cells, simply use the included RC charger or you can plug it into any USB outlet with the included cable. The battery pack easily slides on or off the device and is held in place by powerful magnets. Since releasing this mod, Hotcig has been working on some additional battery options and has released the a dual 18650 battery compartment or you can buy the new 1300mah battery pack.
Overall, the DX200 looks like an excellent DNA 200 mod that stands out from the competition. The quality of its construction is top notch and it has technology that performs flawlessly. While the battery may not be as massive as what you would like in a DNA200 box mod, the portability of the mod makes up for that. And the price is fantastic.
