The Mag Grip by Smok is a new release in the Mag series of mods and kits. This particular mod features a compact profile, an exquisite design, an ergonomic fire key, a top-located display screen with adjustment buttons underneath, 21700/20700/18650 battery support, gun magazine style battery loading, 100 watts of power, multiple protections and temperature control. If you get the kit, you will receive the TFV8 Baby V2 Tank with a 5ml capacity, dual bottom adjustable air inlets, an easy top-fill system, and low to mid-wattage coils, including a mesh coil for intense vapor with flavor. Compact Handle Design & Top Display Screen

With an exquisite fire key and stunning appearance, the Mag Grip continues the handle style design of the Smok Mag and Mag Baby. But, the new device has many fresh concepts, including a distinctive OLED display that has been moved to the top, gun magazine-style battery loading, and an optimized shape to fit perfectly into the hand.

The appearance is also more simplistic thanks to a dual color scheme in chrome/black, red/black, prism blue/black, and black/red. With measurements of 67mm x 91.5mm x 38mm and a weight of only 252 grams, this device is compact and extremely portable.

At the top of the Mag Grip, you will see the 0.66-inch OLED display with a slight tilt for easily viewing vape data. The high-definition menu displays white font on a black background, and indicators include current wattage, current mode, current charge level, atomizer resistance, current voltage, and a puff time indicator. Plus and minus buttons are underneath the screen to ensure you can easily make adjustments.

21700/20700/18650 Battery Support

The Smok Mag Grip Mod can work with 18650, 20700, or 21700 batteries. It is advised to use the 21700 battery because this will maximize output while ensuring long vape times without recharge. To recharge the cell, you may use the included cable that plugs into a side USB port and connects to any computer or other micro USB interface. And the port supports upgrading the firmware if Smok releases one for the Mag Grip. All one must do to swap out the battery is press a coin-shaped button that releases the battery magazine and results in a familiar sound reminiscent of reloading a real gun.

Technical Performance

The Smok Mag Grip box mod can put out up to 85 watts in power mode with a 18650 battery or 100 watts if you install a 21700 or 20700 cell. Exact operating modes have not been released, but we do notice that the unit has temperature control modes that should work with all standard heating elements, including nickel, titanium, and stainless steel. We are uncertain if there is a TCR mode, so we will add this information to this page when it becomes available and if there are any taste mode options during power operation.

Multiple Safety Protections

The Mag Grip provides multiple types of safety protections to prevent potential risks. The device is protected from puffs longer than 10 seconds, short circuits, overheating, and over-discharging on both the software and hardware levels. There’s also a puff monitoring system and intelligent atomizer recognition capability.

Smok Mag Grip Kit

If you purchase the full kit for the Mag Grip, you will also receive the TFV8 Baby V2 Tank, the latest updated version of Smok’s compact atomizer. Its color finish perfectly matches the Mag Grip Mod and is small, with dimensions of just 30mm x 54mm. This makes it a perfect combination for the already portable mod. The bottom of the tank is made with a gold-plated 510 threaded connection, ensuring proper electrical conductivity and longevity. Near the bottom, dual air inlets can be widely adjusted and work with the coils for huge vapor and tons of flavor.

5ml Juice Capacity With Easy Refill System

The TFV8 Baby V2 is made with a bulb-style juice reservoir that can store 5ml of e-juice and is refilled by pressing a patented lock button, allowing the top cap to swivel. As a result, a juice port is exposed, making refills a breeze because it is larger than previous Smok atomizers. Plus, the gasket prevents leaking during refills and is now located underneath the juice port, ensuring a mess-free process.

New Lower Wattage Coils

With the Mag Grip Kit’s release, Smok also released two new coils for the Baby V2. These heads work at a lower wattage to ensure long battery life without sacrificing performance. Pre-installed inside the device, you will get the 0.15ohm Baby V2 S1, a mesh coil for intense clouds with flavor and a longer life span. It fires from 40 to 80 watts but is best used from 60 to 70 watts. Also included with the purchase is the 0.15ohm Baby V2 S2, a custom design head for the Mag Grip Kit. It also focuses on lower wattage with lots of vapor production, but the airflow is more restricted, and this head should last longer thanks to additional direct wicking channels. This head is best used from 45 to 60 watts, but you may fire it in the 30 to 70 watts range.

The Smok TFV8 Baby V2 has optional coils that utilize anti-bacterial medical cotton and have rainbow or gold finish options. The first of these heads is the 0.17ohm Baby V2 A1, also made with wire for faster heating with lots of vapor. It works from 90 to 140 watts but is best between 110 to 130 watts. Another compatible coil is the 0.2ohm Baby V2 A2, made with dual heads. It also produces massive vapor and fires at 50 to 80 watts. The recommended setting for this coil is 65 to 75 watts. A third coil that will work with the Mag Grip kit is the 0.15ohm triple Baby V2 A3. It works in 60 to 100 watts but should be used from 80 to 90.
